Mebankhraw’s Story
Hi, I'm Mebankhraw.
I’m 19 years old, and I was born in the small village of Nongnah, South West Khasi Hills, Meghalaya India.
My father died when I was 10 years old. Since the death of my father, the breadwinner of our family, we suffered a lot with poverty, and endless difficulties struck our family. My hope of going to school kept dimming as my mother could not support us, and I was worried about my future. I was so discouraged when I saw others going to school, while I could not.
But then, we came to know about God's Dream Home which takes in orphans and children from difficult circumstances.
In 2016, my aunt and my mother requested Pastor Cross and Ann to take me to God's Dream Home. They admitted me and sent me to the school Shining Light Academy for my Class 7 where I studied until I completed my Class 10. Later, I got admitted to Government Boys Higher Secondary School for Class 11 and 12.
After I completed my Class 12, I was able to get into the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) for a 2-year Electrician Wireman Course. I am in my second year now and will be finishing in August 2024.
With my studies and training as an electrician, I am glad that I can help Pa (Pastor Cross) at our home and church construction site whenever my service is needed. I hope for more experiences to grow in this area.
I am thankful to God for this opportunity given to me, and am also grateful to People of Grace through Buena whom I met and have known since I was quite young whenever she visits us. They have supported not only me but other children at God's Dream Home.
After the death of my father, I slowly began to drift away into things which could have destroyed my life. Had it not been for your kindness and generosity, I don't think I would be what I am now.
It is my prayer that God would help me do whatever I can with all my heart, to do it with love and to do it all for His glory.
