Christine’s challenge to other youth!

At our recent Ready, Set, Bloom Spring Jazz Cafe event, I shared about Christine Caramat, one of our scholars in the Philippines.

I had the opportunity to meet her and her family at their home during my recent visit. She just completed 5th grade and has been our scholar since kindergarten.

Witnessing a family of 8 living in a single room was a stark reminder of the challenging circumstances faced by many families in the Philippines. Christine’s family actually lives in the compound where People of Grace was first founded and our free kindergarten program was first held.

Christine's mother was visibly emotional as she shared their struggles, especially after her husband, a former security guard, suffered a stroke, leaving them without a consistent source of income. Despite their hardships, Christine expressed gratitude for the scholarship, emphasizing how it provides hope for their future. She encourages other youth facing similar challenges to persevere and remain resilient.

We are immensely grateful for our dedicated workers on the ground who provide a safe and supportive environment for families like Christine's.
