A platform for gifted musicians
Part of our mission is to empower youth and give them a platform to use their talents and skills. In 2018, Melanie and Bryan were in Pursu1t, the youth group I lead. I invited them to partner with POGI by donating their talents for a Jazz Night to support education for kids in the Philippines. Not only did they agree to do so, they rallied their friends and even their band teacher to come and perform at our fundraiser along with other young adults from Richmond and FIC. Now, Melanie has graduated from the UBC School of Music and will be pursuing a career in teaching music, while Bryan is studying Human Geography at UBC.
This spring, these gifted musicians once again agreed to rally their friends to play music at Ready, Set, Bloom Spring Jazz Cafe to fund outreach, education, and community building in India, the Philippines and the Middle East. Bandmates from UBC and FIC (Brayden, Bryce, Josh, Anton, Adrian, and Junior) will be playing with them next Saturday, May 11, from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at Soundhouse Studios in Vancouver.
We look forward to this wonderful evening of advocating for the vulnerable around the world and raising $20,000 to continue reaching and supporting them.
