Mariam's story from the Middle East

Dear Supporter,

Your gifts towards People of Grace International over the last year have given hope and a possibility of a brighter future to many students around the world.

I want to share with you an update on a student in the Middle East who without our monthly donors would not have had the opportunity to pursue an education in healthcare. Here is Mariam’s* story:

“My family and I used to live in Syria, but because of the harsh and painful conditions of war, all thirteen of us fled to Kurdistan.

I thought life would be easier after escaping from war, but we live in constant fear and anxiety of being forced back to Syria to help with the war efforts. I worry also for my mother who is struggling with a number of medical issues.

Despite these hardships, I am grateful for the opportunity to study biomedical sciences at a university here and it is my dream to complete my education and eventually become a surgeon.

Thank you for your gifts towards my student scholarship. Without your generosity, I might not have had the opportunity to pursue my childhood dream to become a doctor. My hope is to be a successful and honest girl, and to help my family and everyone also pursue their dreams and ambitions.”

Not a lot of women from Mariam’s culture get a chance to pursue an education beyond high school. If it weren’t for our monthly donors, she would not have been given the opportunity to continue her education. Now, Mariam is not only on her way to fulfilling her dreams but is also becoming a source of hope and support to her family.

We currently have two waitlisted scholars in the Middle East and are looking for monthly donors to come alongside and help them escape from poverty.

If we are able to get 6 monthly donors at a minimum of $30 we can help them receive the education needed to break the cycle of poverty. We invite you to partner with us in this vision. You can do so by replying to this email or by setting up your monthly giving directly online.
